"...a great example of someone who can play an instrument comfortably on stage." - Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction)
" You look like you belong in front of a rock band. You come out with a lot of power." -Jason Newsted (Metallica)
Fresh off the rollercoaster ride of Rockstar: Supernova, Jenny has a whole new outlook on music, performance and life in general. It's all about being fearless and showing the world who she really is. In fact, that's her new mantra: "Living fearlessly opens your world." And she's planning on tattoing herself with these very words to mark the occasion.
Jenny Galt has a sly way about her that manages to simultaneously evoke the (rocker) girl next door, an international woman of mystery and that ultra cool chick who always cranks the good tunes at the party. And then there's her music. Adept with gorgeous vocals, impressive piano work and guitar playing, the multifaceted musician is a talent who rocks, pops and captivates.
Hailing from Montreal, Canada (not surprisingly, Neil Young is an influence), this beauty may be young but she's plenty experienced. She started singing at the bitty age of 6 and playing guitar at 16, and from there she never looked back, moving to Ottawa where she performed solo in clubs around town and served, briefly, as a member of the band Scout. She then moved on to sunny Australia where she spent two years performing regularly as an acoustic folk-pop singer songwriter.
She's also put her harmonious artistic services to good use with Yellow Light, spreading her diverse talents far and wide. The group has recently disbanded, but while a member, Jenny toured across Canada several times. She also self-booked, self-promoted and self-funded the tours while the group released four popular albums. The most recent, "Speed of Light," was something of a sensation, gaining loads of positive press from major newspapers and magazines in nearly every major city across Canada.
On top of these accomplishments, Jenny has played significant festivals in Canada, including Canadian Music Week, North by Northeast and New Music West, and also graced television and radio and recorded music for a popular film and television series. You can hear her singing two songs by that other famous Canadian (Leonard Cohen) on "Falcon Beach," a significantly lauded movie and television series. Jenny also sings on a Matthew Good track, "Big City Lights," on his most recent album.
She now lives in Vancouver, Canada where she is currently recording her debut solo record. She is becoming increasingly popular while remaining ever artistic and just as musically diverse as ever. As an accomplished songwriter and performer she brings a lot to the proverbial table. Her re-emergence as a fearless solo artist will soon take the world by storm.
