First Aid Kit

Profile

First Aid Kit is a band of old friends that came together in 2002 with a mission to make the most amusing music possible. The four original members; Nathan Fahlman, Neil Peters, Paul Robinson, and Chris Samis all attended the same high school and in those years began pursuing music as a life. Nathan and Paul played in the Edmonton band Pawn while Neil recorded and released a plethora of insane albums for the collective, Neo P Productions.

In late 2001, Nathan and Neil began writing songs together under the name Bacchanal and entered a recording contest through which they laid down three tracks at Black Box Studios. These songs won them an opportunity to play live which presented a problem as they had no other musicians to back them up. Thus, Paul and Chris were recruited to play the gig. It was a successful combination of musicians and from this First Aid Kit was born.

The band has since released two albums; Mechanisms of Injury (2002) and Songs of Warships (2003), and has recently released the single RPG (2005). Pre-production for their third album is currently underway at Black Box Studios in Edmonton.

In the summer of 2005, bassist Chris Samis decided to leave the band to pursue other interests in life. In October, First Aid Kit’s longtime friend Tim Sakellariou joined the band and took over Sammi’s role on the bass.
